I'll understand if you don't stop by tomorrow...

with it being Mothers' Day and all.  Our family is off to the Riverside near the Coleman fish hatchery for their Mother's Day Brunch.  The outside dining near the Sacramento River is always a pleasure. You can watch the fisherman running up and down the river along with all the native birds hunting for their brunch also.

If I remember I will even test my new remote posting tools right from the restaurant. In case you are looking for a treat for Mom too you can see just we we are feasting on!

We did family and pregger sessions all morning today. I love the close touch of this one along with all the pretty eyes.

Class of 2008 still coming in...

Even while we are working on new props and backgrounds for the 2009 senior class we are still shooting the current grads every day.  Right now we re getting a ton of the home school kids and the many Charter school students that did not have the need for yearbook shots earlier in the year. With graduation just weeks away we are having to rush the orders but if can still be done...

It continues to amaze me how much talent is out there with today's seniors. Music, art, sports-- we have seen it all and in many cases all in one student. A great portrait is not staring at the camera with a big dufus grin and clumsy pose. What you are looking for is to look wonderful AND tell a story about how you are and where you are going. What story will you tell?

The Redding Baby Boom

It must be the water.

Go to any store, restaurant or neighborhood and you will see another generation of kids in the making. Lots of pregnant tummies and even more strollers cruising the Mall and walking trail.  Our little city continues to grow with the hopes and dreams of all these young families.

Way to go Moms... you carry the future of the world.

What to get for Mom...

Warning... Mothers Day is this weekend so it would be in your best interest to buy the card, make the phone call, get a loving gift for that special person in your life that started it all.

Of course a favorite gift for all Moms' is a new portrait of the family. Two, three, four generation portraits are a gift for now and for the future members of your family. Two popular gifts are the Gina Alexander purses and the Carolina panels that are both cottage cute!

Call 244-2636 for the free clothing consultation and to reserve your time. Of course Gift Certificates are available too in case a member of your clan is not in town right now!

Itty bitty babies...

Just when you think Redding is becoming a real city you see Mother Nature parading her newest batch of critters in full view of the on rushing humanity. The cutest example was a recent sighting of a mother skunk with 6 darling babies following in single file behind her on Keswick Dam Road.  It was like a school crossing guard protecting the tiny students going from one class room to the next.

I have also noticed it's that time of year for many pregnant and new Moms to be coming into the studio. We have some wonderful products to show that bulging tummy ( and Dad can come to for some great photos) plus the newborn and Watch Me Grow programs have been popular for years.

April showers bring May flowers...

It appears that our lush green Spring will be shortened by the lack of rain this year.  Driving up I-5 yesterday I noticed that the hills south of Anderson are already turning khaki brown. A quick look at Shasta Lake tells me to get the Jet Ski out early this year so we don't have to do a obstacle course around the low water tree stumps.

My seniors are still coming in with fresh colors to brighten up the photos.  Don't be afraid of color.  With our hundreds of backgrounds and Hollywood style portrait park we can match up nearly anything you can find. We even have backgrounds for the two toughest colors...orange and bug green!

They built this city...

Just 20 minutes ago I finished a fun senior session with the fourth generation Gerlinger Steel senior, Scott.  Most of my clients know I am a local history buff so it was great learning more about his Great Grandfather and Grandfather starting the biz around 1927. Imagine the city's growth seen by the family over the years and all the projects they have helped build to make Redding a thriving focal point in the far northern valley.

What's your story?

When we do your portraits make the final image more than just a photograph... make it YOUR story.

Make it a legacy to who you are and what you want to become. Planning sessions are always free and they make a world of difference in guaranteeing the shots you want. Let's work together and make some art!

More from the enchanted woodland...

One of the most popular kids theme sessions we run every year is the Woodland Nymph.  Usually we run the program a Friday and Saturday but this year due to a ton of high school seniors that waited until the last possible moment we cut it short to just one day.  That is becoming a problem since I have a group of Moms mad at me because their cutie pie daughters missed the 08 event.

Soooo, I have ONE Friday available on May 23 to get you in if you can get another 5 sessions lined up without me having to do any advertising.  This is designed for little girls ages 2 -10 years. Sorry only ONE child allowed on the elevated set at a time!

You want in?  Call me at 244-2636 to schedule   Same great price of only $69 for the session including the costumes and all the props, an 8x10, 8 wallets and your entry print into the $10,000 Photogenic Kids Contest.

Kitty kitty kitty...

We had another busy weekend photographing families and high school seniors. The weather here has been magnificent for the end of April. I am finally getting a chance to shoot some of the new props in the portrait park...I will pose them later after the client gets to see the work.

One of today's sessions was the real cat's meow. This baby Bengal is stunning with the markings and color. We consider pets to be an important part of your family so when planning your session tell us about your four legged critters!

Many thank you's...

One more room in the newly remodeled studio is finished thanks to Katie Gleim at the House of Design in Red Bluff. The floral piece on the mantel is the last piece of the puzzle to tie all the visual elements in the studio together.

Katie and I have worked on dozens of projects over the years including a photo book on floral design.  Throughout the year she offers classes on a variety of home decor topics and if you have not seen her Kraft Library rehab at Christmas you are missing one of Northern California's hidden treasures!

Also a big thanks to Tina Hitchcock for her help choosing colors and getting the new tile for the flooring installed quickly and perfectly. Tina's huge store in the Bechelli Square Shopping Center is full of beautiful furnishings and accents for your home or office. We have used her for both the studio and personally at home.
