Choosing your photography style and studio is a lot like deciding on your fashion. You want something that fits your image and your mood.
Plus it must be accenting your best features and hiding those little things you wish were not there.
And you want a fun experience that makes it worth your time and effort.
Fashion isn’t a one size fits all kind of deal, and though 8x10 prints are always the same size, it’s the style that gets created, enhanced and printed on the paper that you’re really paying for.
The problem however, is that the size is familiar because its always the same, but the quality can vary from bottom of the bird cage, to destined to hang on a museum wall.
Photographers don’t sell pieces of paper-- they sell images of you. Some make great images and some unfortunately don’t. Price often will tell you a lot about how good they are going to make you look, and for the most part an 8x10 is generally priced at about the same price as a pair of Jeans.
Most value priced jeans run between $60-$125, and the same goes for a good quality 8x10.
Only that 8x10 will last you the rest of your life, and the jeans will be out of style or gone in a year or so.
If you bought a pair of jeans for $20-$35 you’d be asking yourself what’s wrong with them?
And that same question applies to 8x10s in that price range. Good doesn’t come cheap, and cheap doesn’t come good.
When you consider for a few dollars more, you could have a piece of art that would be proudly displayed on the wall and not hidden in the bottom of the sock drawer for no one to see.
If the jeans don’t fit your style, you don’t buy them. If you get them home and decide they don’t look good on you, you take them back. If you don’t choose a photography studio that fits your style and makes you look good, you just wasted a lot of time and money that you aren’t going to get back. So, choose wisely.
So what's it going to cost?
That depends on what you want. What do you need for family and friends, for the wall, albums, frames and other special products and services.
Portrait sessions start at just $49 and go as high as $795 for a beach session in Eureka. You may purchase individual prints or build your own custom packages based on your needs and budget.
On average a high school senior will spend between $445-$970, families between $480 and $1,200 and children about $275-$650.
Of course you can go lower or higher depending on the products and time needed to create the perfect portrait for you. That is why we recommend a FREE pre-portrait consultation to talk about style, clothing and location. It is also why we have the "love them or leave them" proof guarantee. If we don't get the shots you want during your session we will gladly do more or refund your entire session fee.
